A free EasyRetro alternative for teams that hold a retro every sprint
EasyRetro, formerly FunRetro, is a good board for an occasional retro. If your team meets every sprint and keeps hitting the one-board-a-month limit of its free plan, here is how ProstoRetro compares, and where EasyRetro is still the better choice.
What EasyRetro is and who it suits
EasyRetro is one of the longest-running online retrospective boards. It started out as FunRetro, so if you are looking for a FunRetro alternative, this is the same product under its current name. The idea is simple: create a board, share the link, and people add cards to the columns, vote and comment.
It does several things well, and they are worth weighing before you move anywhere:
- A very large template library. EasyRetro offers hundreds of ready-made retrospective templates, so almost any format you have read about already exists as a board.
- Public boards without sign-up. Participants don't need an EasyRetro account to open a public board, and they can post there anonymously. For a quick session with people outside your company, that is convenient.
- Practical board controls. Comments, a maximum number of votes per person, merging cards, sorting, surveys and a timer.
- Integrations and exports on paid plans. Cards and action items can become Jira issues, and EasyRetro connects to Slack, Confluence, Trello and Microsoft Teams. Boards export to PDF, CSV, PNG, Excel, DOCX or a Confluence page.
- Controls for larger companies. SAML SSO on its bigger business plans, and an audit log that the free plan does not include.
- No cap on people. EasyRetro says there is no limit on the number of people you can invite to a board.
If your company already pays for EasyRetro and relies on those integrations, it is a solid tool and probably worth keeping. This page is for the other case: a team that likes the "board and a link" way of working and wants a retro every sprint, not one a month.
Where EasyRetro's free plan stops
As of October 2026, EasyRetro's pricing page and help center describe the free plan like this:
- One new public board a month.
- One public board in total on your dashboard, archived boards included. To start a new board while last month's is still there, you delete the old one.
- No teams and no team boards. Both need a paid plan, and on team boards every participant needs an EasyRetro account.
- One survey per board.
- History, export, integrations and AI need a paid plan. Seeing the history of your retrospectives, exporting a board, the Slack and Confluence integrations, and the AI summary and grouping are all outside the free plan.
In practice, a team on two-week sprints gets one of its two monthly retros on the free plan, and last month's board has to go before the next one can start. Boards don't expire on their own, so the limit is on how many you can keep, not on how long they last. Comparing this sprint's action items with last month's, or keeping a record of what the team decided, takes a paid EasyRetro plan.
Where ProstoRetro is different
ProstoRetro is a smaller tool that does only team retrospectives, and it has no board quota: your team can hold a retro every week, with every feature described here. For a team that already likes how EasyRetro works, these are the differences that matter:
- A retro every sprint, and the history stays. Nothing has to be deleted to make room for the next board. Past retros stay with your team, so last quarter's board and its action items are there when you need them.
- Guests still join with just a name. A room open to "Anyone" works much like an EasyRetro public board: people type a name and they are in. New teams get this setting by default. The facilitator signs in with Google or email, and a room can be limited to signed-in users or team members, with an optional waiting room for guests.
- Anonymity in every room. Anonymous cards are on by default, and each person decides per card. Cards stay hidden from others while people write, so the first idea on the board doesn't steer the rest.
- A guided session instead of an open board. The facilitator moves everyone through the steps: an optional icebreaker and mood survey, a look at open action items, then writing, grouping, voting and discussion, with a timer for any step.
- AI grouping and summaries in every room. Similar cards can be grouped for you, groups get names, action items are suggested during discussion, and AI writes a short summary of the retro. On EasyRetro, these AI features are outside the free plan.
- Follow-up without exports. When the retro ends, a summary page collects the cards, votes and action items, and participants who signed in get it by email. Action item owners get email reminders, and the next retro starts by reviewing what is still open.
There are 19 ready templates, including the Sailboat, Start Stop Continue and Mad Sad Glad, and you can build your own with up to five columns. The full list is in the retrospective template library.

When EasyRetro is the better choice
Stay with EasyRetro, or move to one of its paid plans, if any of these describe your team:
- Action items must land in Jira or Trello. EasyRetro can turn cards and action items into Jira issues and connects to Slack, Confluence and Microsoft Teams. ProstoRetro has no integrations.
- You need files. If retros feed reports or an archive in PDF, CSV, Excel or DOCX, EasyRetro exports them. ProstoRetro has no file export.
- Your company requires SSO or an audit log. EasyRetro offers both outside its free plan. ProstoRetro has neither, and no enterprise admin features.
- You run very large open sessions. EasyRetro sets no limit on people per board. ProstoRetro is built for team-sized retros, up to 100 people in a room.
- You want a ready board for a rare format. With hundreds of templates, EasyRetro probably has it. In ProstoRetro you would build it as a custom template.
- One retro a month is enough. If your team meets monthly and doesn't need to look back, the free plan may cover you, and there is no reason to move.
If you are weighing other tools too, see how ProstoRetro compares with Parabol, TeamRetro and Retrium.
How to switch from EasyRetro
There is no import from EasyRetro or any other tool. Both work around a shared link, so the move is about setting up your next retro, and it takes a few minutes:
- Keep what you need from EasyRetro. Export is not part of its free plan, so copy open action items and any notes worth keeping by hand before you delete a board.
- Sign in with Google or email. ProstoRetro sets up a team for you, so there is no workspace to configure.
- Pick the same format. If you used a common one, such as the Sailboat, 4Ls or What Went Well, choose it from the ready templates. If your board had its own columns, create a custom template with the same names so the board looks familiar.
- Keep the public-board feel. New teams start with rooms open to "Anyone", so guests type a name and join. Switch a room to signed-in people or team members when it needs to be closed.
- Post the room link wherever your team already shared EasyRetro boards.
- Carry over open items. In the first retro, add the action items you copied from EasyRetro, with an owner and a due date, so they get reminders along with the new ones.
Open the first retro with a short warm-up: the board picks a question and the person to answer it, and everyone gets a turn. The built-in questions are listed on the icebreaker questions page.
FAQ
Is EasyRetro the same as FunRetro?
Yes. FunRetro is EasyRetro's former name, so everything on this page applies to it too.
How many retros can we run in ProstoRetro for free?
As many as your team needs. There is no monthly cap and no old board to delete first, and up to 100 people can join one room.
Can guests post without an account, as on a public board?
Yes, in a room open to "Anyone", which is how new teams start: guests type a name and join, as long as the retro hasn't been completed. The facilitator always signs in with Google or email.
Can ProstoRetro send action items to Jira or post to Slack?
No. There are no integrations with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams or Trello, no API and no file export; ProstoRetro reaches people by email instead. If your action items must land in Jira, EasyRetro's paid plans are the better fit.
Can I keep the columns from my EasyRetro board?
Yes, if the board had up to five columns: recreate it as a custom template with the same names, and it is there for every retro. To see what a whole session looks like, read how to run a great retro.
